Is Pyromane a cat that controls fire, or living fire that can make itself look like a cat? It does seem to have more in common with the Phoenix from that desert ARK than any lion. An author named Clarke said sufficiently advanced technology would be indistiguishable from magic...I'd say that whatever engineered this creature was plenty advanced.
An unruffled Pyromane will stay at a low burn and shrink its profile. But when rovoked, that small cat can suddenly flare itself up into a lion-sized inferno.
It seems to drink in any nearby fire, using that power to cauterize its own wounds and power up its arsenal of incendiary attacks.
