Cloth Armor is the first tier of armor available to players. It provides mediocre insulation from heat, low insulation from cold, and very low protection from physical damage.

Because of its temperature-negating properties and light weight, experienced players are recommended to carry Cloth Armor in their inventory to switch out with their primary armor during extreme Heat and/or Cold. This is especially helpful during long excursions from the player's base, where otherwise the player would be devoid of temperature-controlling elements.

Desert Cloth Armor is a mid-tier armor. It offers moderate physical protection, good cold protection, and excellent heat protection, which is very useful when exploring the hot Desert.

The Desert Goggles and Hat will enable you to see during Sandstorms

Hide Armor is an early armor that offers some physical protection and moderate protection from cold, but makes the wearer more susceptible to heat.

Hide Armor is crafted and repaired in player inventory. Its ingredients is easy to obtain, so hide armor may be more reliable than flak armor as it can be repaired on time.

Chitin Armor is a mid-tier armor that offers moderate physical protection, but has low protection against cold weather and makes the wearer more susceptible to hot weather.

Provides moderate physical protection, but can get a little warm.

Fur Armor is a mid-tier armor that offers moderate physical protection and extreme protection from cold weather, but makes the wearer much more susceptible to heat.

The armor provides no hypothermic protection while the player is in the water.

SCUBA Armor is a late-game utility armor. The effects provided include enhanced underwater vision, greatly increased oxygen supply, increased cold protection underwater, and increased swim speed.

SCUBA is an acronym for "Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus"

Hazard Suit Armor provides good physical protection, decent cold protection, and excellent heat protection. Wearing the full set provides the user with the Hazard Protection buff, shielding them from radiation, mushroom spores, and poison gas. This protection makes Hazard Suit Armor perfect for traversing the dangerous zones of the aberrant ARK, though it will slowly lose Durability when worn in these zones.

Ghillie Armor is a mid-tier armor that offers moderate physical protection, good cold protection, and high heat protection. It can be seen as an upgrade to Cloth Armor.

The Ghillie Armor set works as a camouflage suit, as it reduces the enemy visibility range by 50%, which makes it easier to stay unnoticed by predators or skittish prey such as the Tapejara.

Flak Armor is a late game armor that offers high physical protection and moderate cold protection, but makes the wearer more susceptible to heat.

Provides heavy physical protection, but makes the elements harder to endure.

Riot Armor is a late-game armor that provides heavy physical protection, moderate cold protection, and torpor resistance, but makes the wearer more susceptible to heat

Riot Armor also reduces the amount of Torpor the wearer receives from instant torpor-increasing sources. This includes Pachy, Thorny Dragon, Slingshot, Boomerang and melee weapons like Wooden Club and Electric Prod. However, it does not include poison-like effects like that of the Pulmonoscorpius.

Tek Armor is an end-game armor that offers the best physical protection and moderate protection from cold. When worn as a full suit, the wearer gains increased protection from heat, cold, and radiation.

Each armor part also grants the wearer special abilities, such as unlimited oxygen, night vision, helmet scanner, devastating punches, jetpack, no fall damage, and climbing mountains. The combination of the jetpack-function with the leggings' fast walking ability allows to increase the flying-speed substantially.
